Hola From Honduras!

"Surely, LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield." (Psalm 5:12) Amen! This has truly been the case so far!

Hello from Honduras! Today marks one week since we started our journey to Honduras, and a fun journey it has been so far! We can see the hand of the Lord working so clearly! Let me update you on what we have been up to so far.

Sat. Aug 11th: Travel day number 1

We made our way to Houston in the morning in a PACKED car. My parents drove Jonathan and I with all of our luggage in my little Corolla. We packed all of our stuff into 4 suitcases and 2 backpacks (+ 1 guitar) AND we still had some weight to spare!

We made it through security with no problems and jumped on our first plane. Destination: San Salvador, El Salvador. {Just a short little endorsement, if you plan to travel within the Americas, I would highly recommend TACA airlines. We traveled with them and they had GREAT service}. Our layover in San Salvador was pretty short, but even in that short time we could tell that the Lord was there. Walking to our departing gate, Kari Jobe was singing Revelation Song on all of the TVs HAH!

On to our next plane, headed to San Pedro Sula, Honduras. We went through customs which went very smoothly and made our way to the public lobby to find ourselves a little corner to park our stuff and spend the night. It just ended up that the store across from where we were sitting was called Souvenir's Eben~Ezer. {Really?! Ebenezer- thus far the Lord has been with us :) } We really didn't get much sleep, maybe an hour each, but we felt very safe.

Sun. Aug 12th:

Our last plane to Tegucigalpa was very small. I think there were only 9 of us on the plane including the host and pilot. We made it to our final destination only missing 1 bag (that we picked up the next day) and headed straight to church. After church we slept the rest of the day hah (but our host ended up doing the same thing).

Mon. Aug 13th:

We went apartment hunting and had a huge success! There is a sweet lady named Alma who owns a house in safe area of town. A few years ago she built about 7 apartments behind her house that she rents out. Her rooms are always occupied, BUT she happened to have an opening for us! Alma is a strong believer and her maid is a strong believer also! She is so excited to have us here and even asked us if we would be doing Bible studies in the apartment before we confirmed that we would move in. She offered the apartment to us for $500 a month (which includes WiFi, cable, and water). The other tenants are from Canada, Brazil, Italy, Spain, and other places. We have the nations at our door step!

Tues. Aug 14th:

Move in day! Our little apartment is cute and just what we need!

(View from the front door. Up those stairs in our bedroom)
 (View from the "kitchen")
 (We have a little balcony!)
(This pic is from our balcony. In the plaza in the middle of all the apartments is a huge mango tree that actually produces mangos!)
(This is the view from our living room. Yes, that is another mango tree with some HUGE mangos. Too bad they are just out of reach...)
(This is a view of the city from our balcony. Yes, that is a huge Coca-Cola sign)
(and another view from our balcony)

I also started teaching ballet classes today. This week has a pretty light amount of classes as not all of the students are back from summer vacations yet, but next week will have a full schedule. The students are very diligent in their training.

Wed Aug 15th- today, Sat Aug 18th:

We are starting to settle in quite well. We have already set up a local bank account and purchased a local cell phone. We are working on our Spanish and practicing whenever we get a chance. Today we plan on going out and doing a little exploring!
As far as transportation, we are using a taxi to get back and forth from the studio. Because we are using the same guy every time he is giving us a discount! We had looked at maybe getting a motorcycle, but because we are headed into the rainy season we decided that it wouldn't be the safest right now. Maybe later :) All that to say, our commuting around is limited for now, we will be using our legs for anything other than the studio and church.

Jonathan already has a few students signed up for guitar lessons! We only started advertising the guitar lessons this week, so we are sure to get more enrollments soon.

That is all I have for now. More to come as our adventure unfolds!
